MP backs campaign to support local retailers

Banff and Buchan MP David Duguid has backed a national campaign to support local retailers amid convenience store closures and the removal of cash machines in rural areas.

MP meets 'Make it Happen' Rock Challenge team

The MP for Banff and Buchan has met organisers of a new initiative aimed at replacing the cancelled Rock Challenge 2020 event. 

David Duguid has offered to help "in any way he can" after sitting down with the volunteers who are trying to put together a local contest. 

MP welcomes re-opening of Auchmill Bridge

Banff and Buchan MP David Duguid has welcomed the re-opening of a local bridge that has been repaired a week ahead of schedule. 

Auchmill Bridge, just off the A947 near Plaidy, had been shut for several weeks after it was damaged in a collision with a vehicle. 

Banff Minor Injuries Unit given reprieve

I am very happy to see that the AHSCP have taken on board representations made by myself and Peter Chapman MSP​ last month and have decided to give the minor injuries unit in Banff a reprieve while they collect more information.

There has been a lot of coverage in recent weeks about the future of minor injury units here in Banff and in Turriff.

 

Understandably, there has been concern about any suggestion of a downgrade in services provided locally. 

 

The fight to keep Gamrie connected

Banff and Buchan MP David Duguid has met residents in Gardenstown to discuss transport and digital connectivity in coastal communities.

 

The meeting was originally planned to discuss plans to cut the 273 Saturday bus service linking the village to Banff and Fraserburgh.

Rural crime is on the increase and I know that acquisitive theft – for example tractors or metal from less well protected farms – is a large part of that.

Campaign Success for 22q!

Following on from my request last week of the Prime Minister to support calls for 22q11 Syndrome to be added to the newborn blood spot test, I met yesterday with Baroness Blackwood, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Health, to discuss the condition.
