David Duguid pushes for more awareness on 22q within mental health sector

David Duguid has today asked the Department for Health and Social Care about steps they are taking to increase awareness of genetic conditions in mental health services.

According to the charity Max Appeal, there are 1,166 carers for people with 22q deletion syndrome across the UK, including 80 in Scotland. Mental health problems are fairly common symptoms of 22q, and therefore many people with 22q need access to knowledgeable mental health services – but families often report being unable to get the support they need.
