MP pledges support for British Heart Foundation campaign
Banff and Buchan MP David Duguid has pledged his support for British Heart Foundation campaign to make science fiction a reality.
Attending a Parliamentary reception hosted by BHF last week, David heard about the upcoming announcement of the winning bid for the big beat challenge, a research award of £30 million towards helping improve the lives of those with heart and circulatory problems.
He also learned about a new experimental heart monitoring technology - which can give a much more comprehensive view of the electrical aspects of heart performance than a standard ECG.
Commenting, David said:
“Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of early death in the UK and so I am happy to support the BHF’s campaign.
“With new technology and treatment, heart and circulatory problems could be caught quicker, treated more effectively and make for better patient outcomes.
“And, in Banff and Buchan, I know that the local BHF are hard at work fundraising and raising awareness of these issues too.”
