MP raises Mintlaw GP practice changes with health bosses
Banff and Buchan MP David Duguid has raised the issue of the Mintlaw GP practice with Aberdeenshire Health and Social Care Partnership (AHSCP) after it emerged the practice was being taken into their control.
Following news that Mintlaw practice was being placed into a period of urgent care only and after hearing from constituents who had faced problems with the practice, Mr Duguid wrote to the AHSCP.
In their reply, they have outlined some of the changes taking place at Mintlaw. AHSCP took full responsibility for the practice on 1 July and say they are accelerating improvements to the service that patients receive.
Hoping to rebuild the trust of the population, AHSCP have told Mr Duguid that they hope to hold public engagement sessions with local residents to discuss improvements.
Scottish Conservative MP for Banff and Buchan David Duguid said:
“I am grateful to Aberdeenshire Health and Social care Partnership for clarifying some of the changes happening at Mintlaw practice as it comes under their responsibility.
“Local residents are well aware of the recent problems with the practice and I hope that with new stewardship, there will be an improvement in services for my constituents.
“Especially now, local healthcare is of the utmost importance and I look forward to seeing improvements in the coming weeks and months and I would encourage residents to attend the public engagement sessions.
“I will be meeting with the AHSCP again to discuss these improvements further and get as much information as possible for my constituents.”
