Banff and Buchan MP David Duguid has welcomed new funding from the UK Government that brings the total to help deal with COVID-19 in Scotland to £3.3billion.
Nearly £600m extra was made available to the Scottish Government last night (Monday) after another announcement from the Chancellor Rishi Sunak to spend more on the NHS and at local council level.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the Chancellor have both promised to do ‘whatever it takes’ to steer the UK through the Coronavirus crisis.
Mr Duguid said: “This new funding announcement is very welcome indeed.
“It brings the total cash boost to Scotland from the UK Government since the start of this crisis up to £3.3billion.
“This clearly shows the value of Scotland being part of the United Kingdom.
“The Chancellor said he would do whatever it takes to get the country through this and we can see that is exactly what is happening.
“The UK Government is standing by our vital public services to make sure those on the frontline caring for all of us have the resources they need.
“And there is a huge amount of backing for business to keep our economy going so that we can bounce back from this crisis when the time comes.”
