In the run up to and during Christmas and New Year there will be a lot of waste produced, from card to cardboard and plastic packaging to food packaging and eagerly ripped up wrapping paper.
Aberdeenshire Council have asked people to beware of what can be reused, recycled and placed in household waste. The council are encouraging the reuse of leftovers to make creative boxing day dishes. Many types of cardboard, non-glittery Christmas cards and other items can be put in your blue bins. Wrapping paper can only be recycled if it passes the scrunch test.
Foil and glitter-decorated paper and card must be placed in household waste. Further info on what can be reused, recycled and binned can be found at; https://www.aberdeenshire.gov.uk/…/h…/a-z-list-of-materials/
Please note that the council recycling centres will close from 3pm Dec 24 to 9am Dec 27 and again from 3 pm Dec 31 till 9am Jan 3.
