Banff and Buchan MP David Duguid is urging constituents to join in a UK-wide litter clear-up campaign.
The Great British September Clean was originally planned to take place in March but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
More than 800,000 people were due to take part in a range of events across the country.
Now, following social distancing rules, groups are planning to go out and pick up litter in streets, parks, and beaches between September 11-27.
Mr Duguid said: “It was clearly the right decision to postpone the planned events in March.
“However, with social distancing measures, anyone can get involved in September.
“We are lucky to life in a beautiful part of the country that is visited by many people every year.
“However, there is always a small minority who risk spoiling our countryside or beaches by dumping litter or other rubbish.
“If anyone is interested in joining in this UK-wide event, then I would urge them to get in touch with the organisers.
“Individuals or small groups can arrange litter pick-up events in parks, on beaches or even in their local street. There were 800,000 people signed up for the March event – it would be great if a similar number could step forward for September.”
