Banff and Buchan MP David Duguid has welcomed the opening of the new home for HM Coastguard in Macduff.
The new rescue station at the Tarlair Industrial Estate became fully operational yesterday (Monday).
The purpose-built site will be home to officers from Banff and Gardenstown under the new title of Macduff Coastguard Rescue Team.
It includes a garage space for rescue vehicles and a training room which senior coastal operations officer Calum Christie said is “fit for a modern Coastguard Rescue Team”.
Scottish Conservative MP for Banff and Buchan David Duguid said:
“It is great to see the opening of this new facility in Macduff.
“Our coastguard teams do a fantastic job protecting the coastline around the UK.
“The volunteer groups in Banff and Gardenstown have a long history and connection to this area.
“This purpose-built site will bring the operation into the 21st century and provide essential training services for local crews.
“I wish all involved the best of luck in their new home. My constituents and I are very grateful for all the work our coastguard teams do to keep us all safe.”
